Newport is so far my favorite “beach town” on the Oregon Coast. It’s quaint and cute and has two really fun down town areas – the Nye Beach area and the historic downtown area off of the Yaquina Bay. I love to stay in the South Beach Campground just south of Newport. The spaces are large and most have hook ups. They have lovely bathrooms and hot showers – both always clean and ready to use. The campground has beautiful trails that lead you to the ocean through fairy forests filled with mushrooms, coastal plants, and little bits of fairy dust sprinkled about. There is also a beginner level disc golf course that is quite fun for any level of skill!
In Newport, there are lots of fun things to do from visiting the Aquarium to heading over to the every so fun Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum to live music in the historic downtown and great food. Nye Beach is filled with lovely little specialty shops. You can pick up some souvenirs and a great cup of coffee and have dinner by the shore.
Newport is also host to a Food & Wine Festival every year! We hope to make it up there next year for the festival as it looks amazing and while we are there we can camp in my favorite campground at South Beach. We definitely have a lot more exploring to do of my favorite beach town on the Oregon Coast!
