Happy Christmas!

Last year at this time, our deck and dock were covered in a light blanket of frost and snow. This year, the entire country seems to be freezing but our temps have risen back to our lovely moderate climate – 50-60º F. As I type, the rain is pouring down outside and I love it! We haven't had much rain this season yet and I have missed it very much. I've also missed how warm it gets here when it rains. The blanket of clouds insulates us and keeps our little micro-climate warmer than the rest of the state and for that, I am feeling very fortunate.

Wherever you are this year for the holidays, I hope you are staying warm, safe, and dry. I hope that you are having the opportunity to spend time with loved ones or enjoying some wonderful alone time. I hope that you take a moment to make this time of year special for yourself. Take a lovely walk in nature, make some hot cocoa, curl up on the sofa with a good book and a blanket, or take a tour of the holiday lights in your car. Whatever it is that makes you feel special is a must this time of year to get us through the dark nights and possibly lonely times for some.

Today will be spent with my sweetie person, making a nice holiday meal, listening to music, and Facetiming with our families. We'll play a game or watch a movie since the weather this year is not great for outdoor adventures. It will be quiet and lovely and peaceful and I wish that for all of you, wherever you are, whoever you are spending it with – even if it's just yourself.

Happy Christmas to all of my sweet friends. I'm sending you love and light and joy on this beautiful Sunday.

What holiday traditions do you have? I would love to hear them in the comments!
